At Laughter, we have always traveled to Thailand to purchase our coffee beans from the same farms since our founding. This is because we value our connections with the producers above all else. When it comes to other beans, we look not only at the flavor, but also at who grows them, where, and how. For some reason, we tend to source a lot of beans from slightly unusual places. We hope you will keep this in mind as you enjoy our coffee.

Most of the beans used at Laughter are specialty coffees. The most important thing for us when creating flavor is to bring out the "sweetness that is characteristic of coffee." The key to achieving this varies greatly depending on the beans. That's why, when using new beans, we roast them multiple times without compromise, and we also make fine adjustments depending on the season and temperature.

When it comes to specialty coffee, people tend to focus on the acidity, but what we aim for is coffee that is delicious no matter who drinks it, where they drink it, or how they drink it.
That's why, while we roast the beans carefully to preserve their unique acidity and aroma, we don't use any special brewing methods in our shop, instead focusing on recreating the taste at home.

I founded this company when I was still a university student. When you hear that I run a coffee shop, you might assume I was always a coffee lover, but that's not actually the case. To be honest, I barely even drank coffee at the time. My trigger for diving into this world was a chance encounter with Thai coffee. I was completely captivated by the taste, and with no experience or knowledge, I embarked on what could be considered a reckless challenge. Looking back, it was a constant process of trial and error, and there were many times when I thought I might not make it. Yet, I owe my continued business to this day solely to the support of the many people who supported me. We live in extraordinary times. Yesterday's common sense will no longer be valid tomorrow. Each of us must decide for ourselves what to believe and what to choose. Digital technology has made our lives more convenient, but at the same time, it has weakened real-life relationships, and it's easy to lose sight of who we are amidst diversifying values. That's why I believe that warm, organic connections are needed in this day and age. We sell coffee. But what we want to deliver isn't simply "coffee as a physical object."
